It's weird to think about how the Holy Spirit was not an active and natural part of human faith until Jesus anointed the disciples with it during the ascension (Acts 2). The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit, and it's what reveals the Gospel to us in God's perfect timing. The Holy Spirit also prompts us to see what changes we need in our lives, bringing us to the end of ourselves, the place where we can actually allow God to work within us. We have to come to the point where we realize that we don't possess the power to change ourselves (heck, if you discount the Holy Spirit then we don't even have the power to recognize the very things that need changing within us!). While change is a completely awe-filled metamorphosis of maturity and character, the experience of the change should not be the foundation of which we build our faith. Instead, I must focus my gaze on Jesus Christ Himself! Following His example lived here on earth and the obedience He calls us to through His Word, that is what allows my faith along with my relationship with Him all the more stronger. Seeking after Him because He so desperately wants to be my leader, my shepherd, my best friend, and the ultimate lover of my soul! He wants to be my treasure.
"Either when I die, death will keep me from my treasure,
or death will take me to my treasure."
-Passion 2016
So, Where am I placing my treasure?
Is it in the clothes I wear?
The pictures I post on Instagram or how many 'retweets' I get?
The amount of friends I have?
Or is it solely in Christ Jesus?
When it's all said and done the only thing I take to eternity, is my soul, so why not spend my time connecting it with Jesus? I mean He is the ultimate lover of my soul. He beckons: "Follow Me" (Matthew 4:19, John 21:18-19, John 13:36).
