These Letters make great gifts for any occasion and they're very easy to make with minimal supplies. I made a neutral colored letter for the sake of it matching more but u can use whatever color or media you wish!
Supplies:
Wood Letter or Symbol
1 ball of standard yarn (I usually get mine from the knitting section)
Hot glue gun
Ribbon, scrap yarn, or curtain trim (to make the flower)
All the supplies I used for my letter were purchased at Hobby Lobby because Hobby Lobby is the bomb diggity! Also you can subsitute whatever media u want to wrap it in, or the media that is placed on the wrapped letter (or u can leave it wrapped plain).
So basically the process is pretty simple:
You start by hot gluing the yarn on the edge of whatever side u want to start wrapping. I started on the little horizontal bar that ends the "G." Next you pretty much just wrap until you come to an edge that requires you to start wrapping in opposite directions. I usually just skip those corners and then come back and hot glue a place to start wrapping in a different direction. It's a lot of trial and error but it becomes less difficult as you figure out the best direction to wrap the yarn in. Also, some letters are easier than others... If you have a last name starting with an "I", "O", "U", "S" consider yourself lucky. After you have completely wrapped the letter u can accent it with whatever media you want. I used some curtain trim and hot glued it into a circle to make a flower, then added some yarn and twine. That's pretty much the whole process, the wrapping usually takes the longest of everything.
These make awesome gifts and they don't have to be just for adults. I've seen several ones for decorating kid's rooms using their initials wrapped in brightly colored yarn, and of course, I've also know college kids do them for their dorms and apartments. They just add a warm "homey" feel
