Our purpose is not to change people to the way we think, but to look after the lost sheep. So often I find myself wrapped up in the 'duties' that I have placed upon myself as a Christian even if it involves serving others. I focus so heavily on what I need to do for God that I miss the relationship. Jesus never pressured anyone to follow Him-- "“Whoever does not bear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:27). He simply asks that if we follow Him that we be devoted to Him fully. When we devote ourselves to the Father we find out what it means to be obedient to His will and not to the will of others. However, I so often try to love and devote myself to the cause of saving humanity, but it leaves me utterly drained and exhausted. Guess what...without God's love overflowing into us we cannot keep devoting to the cause for humanity because we as humans fail ourselves and each other on a daily basis. Our love for humanity will fade. But when I love Jesus with a personal passion, then I can also serve humanity. So many including myself are found devoted to the cause of Christ rather than a personal relationship with Him. So devote yourself to Jesus and not deeds you can do for Him... for the love of humanity.
